An Eye Drop or Kind Drop, What Is The Reality

An eyedrop is a medicine which is dropped in eye directly for the treatment of eye problems. But what if that drop becomes a kind drop. You want to know! Hmm. In my post Kindness at workplace I talked about how kindness changed the heart of a person. The kind drop is also related to a short story at workplace in which I tried a way to use kindness as a tool to change my friend’s heart and how an eyedrop became a kind drop for me. Let me tell you a short story.
I’ve a friend named Rakesh, who recently lost his job from a very good company. Rakesh has been my classmate while doing diploma in engineering at Manesar and he is an introvert from the college time. He used to come to college directly from his home at Faridabad and I used to stay at hostel or in nearby colony as paying guest. Rakesh has been strong mentally and he used to stay calm while sitting either in group or alone. After diploma in engineering he went to a good college and as always, he doesn’t keep phone with him and don’t even share his number or use the social media to connect. Me and Arjun always talk if he has got the phone or if his number is reachable. 😊 After graduation, Rakesh went to Bangalore for the job in a big company and stayed there.

After few years, I got a call from Rakesh and he said that he lost his job and started a small business at Noida. Now, finally he had a phone and a number. I was in touch with him and one day he asked me for the job! I asked him to come and as his experience from a different background so I asked him for training and after three months gave him job. Rakesh has the problem in his eyes, he takes less fluids and drink very less water so due to dryness, his eyes have infection. He started taking medicine for his allergy and the eyedrops which he needs to take about six times in a whole day. Rakesh didn’t take the medicine after first day and didn’t even bring it with him. As he is a calm and introvert person, I always wanted to hear more from him.

One day I asked him for his medicine and eyedrops which he was not taking as his eyes with looking red and he had pain in his eyes and he said that he forgets to bring it. I then asked him daily to bring his eyedrops but he forgot daily. I couldn’t even remind him by calling because he didn’t had phone. One day he called me from his brother’s number and so in the morning I called on that number and reminded him to bring the eyedrops and he brought them. I wanted to make him comfort and wanted to let his eyes get better soon. As he brought the eyedrops, I always stand behind him and put my hand on his shoulder to remind him for the eyedrop and he smiles beautifully. I drop the eyedrops in his eyes timely. I don’t remember when those eyedrops became kind drops. Whenever, I open my drawer and see that bottle of eyedrops or I rub my eyes after sitting in from the computer, I think of him and remind him to have the kind drops.

His simplicity and his calmness, silence makes me more kind to himself. Those kind drops helped our friendship much stronger and better. Now, I remind him to drink enough water so that he doesn’t need to have the eyedrops to make his eyes moist. Whenever I think of the eyedrops, I get one word in my mind and that is kind drops.
